In simple terms the ‘butterfly effect’ is an idea that suggests a small change can make much bigger changes happen.

My idea for The Butterfly Effect Art & Craft Studio came about during a period of ill-health and a time to reflect on what was important to me. When so many areas of my life were changing I became aware that at pivotal moments I would see butterflies everywhere. This struck a chord with me about embracing change.

During this past year many of us have had time to ‘press the pause button’ and this offered me the opportunity to contemplate what I was most passionate about. I have always felt compelled to share knowledge and skills in an enthusiastic and supportive environment but I have felt that for a long time I haven't had time to explore my own ideas and so I decided to further develop this interest. As a secondary school teacher of Art I relished the opportunity to guide & encourage students to express their ideas using a wide range of media and techniques, exploring colour, texture, shape and form etc and ultimately growing in confidence, However, I recently felt that I needed to free up some time for me to experiment too so I decided to take the plunge and spend time exploring different ideas and in turn developing a range of creative workshops and kits. I love the quote from Thomas Merton as I believe it summed up how important being creative can be for our wellbeing "Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time."

As part of my transformation I then had to find a suitable venue and felt it important to select a tranquil yet inspiring location. The Butterfly Studio, with its beautiful butterfly meadow, was the ideal choice. Nestled in the heart of Warwickshire this stunning retreat offers the perfect opportunity to unlock creative potential. I identified immediately that this was the ideal setting for the workshops. I believe that we are all creative in one way or another and by immersing ourselves in ‘the zone’ and embracing change we can grow in so many ways.

As Pablo Picasso said ‘Art washes from the soul the dust of everyday life’. In our busy daily lives we often don’t find the time to indulge in creative pursuits yet we can gain so much from joining creatively supportive communities; mentally and spiritually, which can have a profoundly positive effect (particularly relevant after one of the most difficult years many of us has ever experienced.)

If you only make one change in your daily life why not come along and be a creative butterfly. You are guaranteed a warm welcome at The Butterfly Effect Art & Craft Studio. Join us for an inspirational day, learning new skills, experimenting with ideas, having fun with like-minded people that you can bounce ideas off and get into your creative  ‘zone’. We have over 20 years teaching experience and are passionate to help people find the confidence to experiment with a wide range of media and techniques. By the end of the session you will leave with a unique creation, the knowledge and confidence to further develop your new skills and a spring in your step. Some say it’s better than a spa day!
